IMS Equipment and Maintenance Fund
As Connecticut’s most advanced materials research center, the Institute of Materials Science at the University of Connecticut (UConn IMS) provides superior graduate research education in the fields of materials science, polymer science, and materials science and engineering. In addition, we offer materials characterization and analysis services to a wide variety of Connecticut industries from well-established corporations to innovative small companies working to bring cutting-edge new technologies to market.
At the heart of our research mandate are our Core Laboratories. These labs include Gas Chromatography; Liquid Chromatography; Molecular & Atomic Spectroscopy; X-ray Diffraction, Scattering and Fluoresce; Thermal Analysis and Rheology; Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR); Gel Permeation Chromatography (GPC); and Mechanical Analysis.
As you can imagine, the purchase and maintenance of such highly specialized instrumentation can be costly. As a non-profit organization, UConn IMS relies on the generosity of our partners to continue providing our students and faculty with the highest quality equipment as well as ensuring we are able to outfit our labs with microscopy/analysis options that answer the questions of today’s industry.
To this end, and as we celebrate 60 years of Education, Research, and Outreach, we are asking our stakeholders to consider a gift to our Equipment and Maintenance Fund. Your gift, whatever size, is appreciated and will be used to further sow the seeds of innovation in the labs at UConn IMS.
